Words saved my life. As an undiagnosed Dyslexic/ADHD child, I was two grades behind my peers. I was very shy and believed myself to be very, very stupid. In time, my Mother saw my sadness and realized how terrible my small life must be and, soon, a Home Teacher came to my rescue. She taught me how to "sound-out" the words and taught me something the schools in those times were not teaching...Phonetics. Within months, I was not only reading my age level, I had surpassed it. I read voraciously. Ten books a week at least. And I remembered every word, delighting in the stories their wonderfully colorful tapestry told! Going to the Library for me was like going to DisneyLand. I was enthralled and vowed that I would read every one of those books during my lifetime! Well...obviously, I have not, but (maybe to make up for my failed promise?) I have begun to write my own. I've written a childrens' book, "The Lion & the Butterfly", a tale of differences that result in love. It has been Illustrated brilliantly by Laurie Stewart. I am also writing a book of recipes ("Crock Pot Cooking for Your Pets") that I've created and evolved while bringing the life back into the eyes of the many abandoned senior animals I've cared for through the years at my senior animal sanctuary, "Fat Quail Farm".  And, of course, I'm also writing and compiling the stories of those “critters”, the dogs, cats, pigs, goat and tortoises who have lived here as well as those who still do... for, indeed, they each have a tale to tell. These short stories will become "The Tails of Fat Quail Farm",...hopefully by Summer of 2016.
