I'm a novelist and screenwriter who found my love of reading and writing through short fiction long ago, devouring stories by Ray Bradbury, Orson Scott Card, Isaac Asimov, and many others. I started writing when I was young, and, in my twenties, after 139 rejections, sold my first novel, Cloudburst, to William Morrow. Several novels followed, including October's Ghost, Capitol Punishment, Simple Simon, Top Ten, The Donzerly Light, and All For One. I've also written a short story collection, Dark and Darker. My novel Simple Simon was made into the film Mercury Rising. I've also worked for many years as a screenwriter. The film Knowing, based on my original script, was released in 2009 and opened #1 at the box office. Receiving Four Stars from Roger Ebert, who branded it 'among the best science-fiction films I've seen', it went on to earn more than $180 million worldwide. I've also done uncredited work on films such as the remakes of The Day The Earth Stood Still and The Eye. I'm a huge proponent of eBooks, and am releasing several older and newer works in this format through Amazon and Barnes & Noble. I love the control this new format allows, and the connection it fosters with readers.
