There he worked for the literary agent Deborah Rogers before leaving to pursue his own writing career. Since then he has written or contributed to over 30 travel guidebooks, been published in newspapers and magazines worldwide, written three radio plays for the BBC, presented a BBC Radio 4 programme about Egypt, and publishes the Pacific Coast Highway Travel website: www.Pacific-Coast-Highway-Travel.com. He also recently completed his first crime novel. He divides his time between Cambridgeshire in England and Green Valley in Arizona, with his wife the travel writer Donna Dailey.

Travel-writing awards received from the British Guild of Travel Writers, Travelex, two awards from the Outdoor Writers Guild, and a Benjamin Franklin Award for the Best Guidebook to Paris.
