This book is for all first responders (law enforcement, fire, or other emergency personnel) who are or want to be supervisors in their agencies. It goes through all facets of good leadership.
My students taught me that choosing their own books to read made them happier people and better students. My book is about what I learned.

Information
Reading is the most important tool for education, yet two decades of applications from research have had no effect on the level of reading skills attained in school. While I was teaching my English classes for middle and high school students, I was always aware of my "invisible partners;" that is, parents school administrators, other educators, and yes, the taxpaying citizen who footed the bill. I knew that these "partners" knew very little about what occurred in the classroom and yet they had a big effect of what I could accomplish. I knew they shared an interest in my students' reading skills, and if informed, could help effect the changes necessary to more fully deliver reading skills to all students. When I retired in 2009, I began to write this book -- Let Them Have Books: A Formula for Universal Reading Proficiency. It was published in December 2010 and is now available wherever books are sold.
