Love to read, which led to love of expression in written words. Wrote term papers for friends in college in exchange for canteen. Always wrote materials for assorted professions. Taught inside adult prisons for 18 years. First published books  were nontraditional texts for incarcerated offenders. One, PARENTING FROM A DISTANCE, is in third edition 25 years after the original. Male offenders less challenging in the classroom than females. It's all about gender differences. Still work with female offenders as a volunteer. I do it for their children who need honesty about criminal behavior, but without disturbing details. Related published works include a prison teacher's memoir, DANCING TO THE CONCERTINA'S TUNE, and a YA book, AN INMATE'S DAUGHTER. Now write fiction and some family history, and manage a small regional press in Gig Harbor, Washington.  

The memoir and YA novel were both named Washington Reads choices by the state librarian. Hold awards from correctional education profession.
