I am a spouse of a Navy Veteran with PTSD. I wanted to help spouses prepare for when the soldiers came home and give them a understanding of what could really happen so I started writing a book I intended to give away for free. I also started a Facebook fanpage at that time as a place to give away the free book. Although the page and free book was designed with spouses in mind, the book attracted veterans and other family members to the page. As a result, as the page grew it has now turned into a support group for anyone who is affected by PTSD. The fans that were on the page also requested that I put the book into print and add more content to it. They wanted to know more about how I felt, my husbands side and view of things, and a chapter dealing from my husbands mother giving other mothers tips and suggestions for handling a child who comes how with PTSD. They also decided that the title of the book needed to change, so I let them name the book, changing it from : Military With PTSD: The Truths No One Else Will Tell You, to. . . Being A Military Spouse: Stand by Your Soldier, and then finally settling on. . . The War At Home: One Family's Fight Against PTSD Then I let them decide the cover of the book and the content that they would like added to the printed version. Every aspect of the book was decided by the fans of the page. I have also wrote an Xbox 360 DVD Drive Repair Guide while I am working on our PTSD book.
