I grew up in South Florida. My high school years were busy and had a tendency to be emotionally passionate.  But the thing I remember the most about being a teenager was how intense I experienced feelings, not just ordinary emotions but ones that were passionate and deep rooted. Back then, anguish and uncertainty would collide with euphoric happiness, and often in the same day. Teenagers have always been capable of supporting each other and exhibiting genuine  feelings and emotions when they are given an opportunity. It saddens me when I see the media portraying young people as immature, selfish, and shallow, when in reality, the majority of them are just not so. I wrote my first Young Adult novel Voyance in the hope of capturing the essence of what these years are really all about, that is, having fun, learning, falling in love, and for many teens, making some pretty tough decisions. Although my book is a paranormal teen romance, I hope that along with being entertaining and enjoyable, my readers feel as though they could “step into” my story. The compliment I hold in highest regard is when a reader tells me they could identify or relate to one of my characters on a very personal level. That’s what makes writing worthwhile! On a lighter note, I left South Florida many years ago to live in the Minneapolis Metropolitan area, and I’ve still not fully recovered from the culture shock, particularly after a bad winter! I’m passionate about rock music and am seriously thinking about taking out a revolving line of credit to help pay for the many concert tickets I buy each year! My personal playlists include: Incubus, Tool, Evanescence, 3 Doors Down, Disturbed, Green Day, and Colbie Caillat, just to name a few. Music has always been a huge inspiration in my life and listening to music while I write feels as natural to me as breathing. My first novel, Voyance, is being published by Brighton Publishing. It is currently available as an eBook on both Amazon and Barnes and Noble. The paperback release will occur sometime during the summer of 2011.
