At 17, Bill and two young ladies had their own radio show. Before leaving home at 18, he headlined throughout the Midwest as, “Smilin’ Bill and His Wonder Horse King.” His stage show included a fabulous stage routine featuring King his golden palomino stallion and trick roping, followed by a medley of country/western songs with the Diamond J Ranch band. Nine years later he registered as a Professional Engineer in Ohio and was later honored as a Diplomate in the American Academy of Environmental Engineers. During his successful consulting career his family goals were fulfilled with a beautiful wife, Phyllis; two daughters, Kathryn and Alanna; and a son, Alan. Phyllis died very suddenly after nearly 44 years of marriage. The following year, Bill was fortunate enough to marry another beautiful Christian lady, Ann who had already raised two sons, Scott and Terry. Their shared families of five children have produced 11 grandchildren.
