Growing up in rural America, Abbott learned to appreciate the beauty of the seasons.  Her mother gave her an old Royal typewriter when she was very young.  She always liked playing with words, and planned to be a journalist. Real life got in her way.  When all the other journalism majors stepped out in the Real World after Watergate, newspapers had always started their slow death. Abbott worked for thirty years in health care marketing and sales.  After a job loss in The Great Recession, Abbott started writing.  She wants to be a combination of Erma Bombeck, Catherine Marshall, and Harry S Truman when she grows up. She writes almost daily for a variety of publications and sites, and posts most of her musing at http://poetryfan.blogspot.com. Abbott has two degrees from the School of Journalism, Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana, a Bachelor of Science, and a Master of Arts.
