Gabrielle Staples was born in Hertford, England in 1951. Raised and educated in New Zealand she received a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration Degree from Victoria University of Wellington and qualified as a chartered accountant – because accountants were supposed to earn lots of money. A few years in practice soon dampened her enthusiasm for bean counting and she moved into the more interesting world of marketing and communications where she made a reasonable living for a number of years. She has had a long love affair with both fantasy and science fiction since reading authors such as C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkein, Isaac Asimov, and Robert Heinlein in the early sixties. Her concepts and ideas for the philosophy behind the Pelarian Multiverse Chronicle have been developed over several years. Gabrielle has one son and lives in Surrey with her husband Christopher, and two alien beings that purport to be cats.
