About the Author Who is this fella’, Bronson Dunbar? Well, I am 23 years old and I live in a small town a few kilometers from the city of Johannesburg, South Africa. I will keep it short and sweet, I do not want to bore you with my life story… Just after completing my studies and receiving my diploma in graphic design I was very excited, I wanted to start working at an advertising agency straight away. But unfortunately, it is not that easy as I soon found out. First of all, my portfolio was lacking, because I only had the designs that I did during my studies, which were not many. Secondly, my portfolio did not show much variety in what I could do and thirdly I had no practical experience. The first two I could understand, but how do you get experience unless somebody employs you as a graphic designer? That works on the same philosophy as the chicken or the egg cliché. I was not sure what to do, after facing these 3 obstacles... One day my father asked me if I would like to have my own website. That sounded like a super idea, except I had no idea how I was going to go about it. I had some knowledge of building a website, but not enough to run a website as a business. That is when my father introduced me to Site Build It!; he already had a website with them and he kept saying there is no other hosting company like them, which I explain in my book, ‘Kickstart Your Graphic Design Career’. And so I chose Site Build It! and launched my website in 2008. It has gone through some changes over the 3 years, but it keeps going from strength to strength. I have acquired over 200 clients all around the world, and I keep getting new clients on a regular basis. Becoming my own boss through my website definitely kicks butt and I would not trade it for having the normal 9 -5 day job.
