Robin Flett was born in Scotland more years ago than he cares to remember. An early career in electronics was cut short when the company he was working for at the time collapsed, and redundancy followed. A new career in newspapers and marketing occupied his time until boredom became total and he took early retirement. At that point he moved to the Orkney Islands and began to write. Nowadays, he resides in northern Scotland with his wife and two cats and continues to write, albeit with the same limited commercial success. As an author who has been through the mill - a mill well known to any would-be writer - he is happy to see the revolution that ebooks have brought to the market. Traditional publishers are rightly terrified of the removal of their much-abused monopoly. Many of them will go to the wall as a result, and they are due no sympathy. It's possible we may see the end of dead-tree books completely in a small number of years. Several mainstream authors have already abandoned traditional means and are now selling their work in electronic form via their own websites. Bypassing agents and publishers alike. The writing really is on the wall. So Robin has decided to go the same route. He will waste no further time on disinterested publishers who cannot be bothered even to read manuscripts sent to them.
