The privilege of having daughters of my own has made me appreciate my life in a way I never dreamed possible. Daughters are truly the inspirations of our lives. This book stemmed from my desire to see my daughters succeed above what I have accomplished. The theme of the book is celebrating diversity and encouraging girls to defy the odds by dreaming big and beyond color, gender, stereotypes, geography, stigmas and much more! My desire is to see the coined phrase "male dominated" to be non-existent in the future. Previously having worked in the Education Office at NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC), I met many amazing high level women with technical and non-technical backgrounds, but still knew that they were the minority in relation to the ratio of men in those same positions. Our push in the Education Office was to place high school and college students with diverse backgrounds into STEM internships. Working at JSC had made me realize that being an advocate for girls and women is my true passion and desire, which my children's book aligns with.
