For as long as I can remember, I read. Mostly stories about horses and dogs. Total animal lover here! Then I progressed to Science Fiction and Fantasy. Life happened. College and work interferred with the quantity I read for a while. Until I became a Paramedic/Firefighter. Note here, it's not all as the profession is depicted on TV. There's down time. Time to read! And I did! Three books a week entered my growing repertoire. I was still reading SF and F. I added thrillers, crime stories, paranormal, and mystery. When I moved to Oregon and became a full time rancher, (there's the animals again!), the format of my reading changed. I listened to books on tape. Several hours a day, every day. From where I lived, it took over an hour to get to town, then an hour back. Hmmm. More audio books! I began writng about thirty years ago to quiet the characters and exploits taking place in my mind. Just for fun though. I had no intention of ever trying to publish. This worked, for a while. Then one character and her worlds began to demand more time. So, while waiting for a lamb or calf to be born, in between checking on the expectant mommy, I wrote. Often in the wee hours as everyone else slept. Before I knew it, I had a book. Well, not a good book, but a one hundred and ten thousand word work of incredible imagination. Whew! One day, as I listened to a book that wasn't exactly well written, (I'm being kind here), I said right out loud to myself, "I could do this!" So began the critique sessions, often three or four a week. I learned the how's, why's, what to do, and what not to do's of writing. In February 2012, Storm of Arranon was born, a YA Science Fiction/Fantasy. In November 2012, Storm of Arranon - Fire and Ice will debut. The characters advised me there would be more than one book. Possibly five! Sheesh!
