I am a parent of two wonderful children and have been married for 22 years.  When my children were in school I found myself trying to figure out why some teachers refused to help or used humiliation and bullying as part of their management plan.  When I became a teacher I knew the importance of treating each child individually, creating a warm, pshchologically safe environment, and accepting differences each child possessed.  When I was a teacher I never felt that I was going to work, I loved every minute of my career.  Unfortunatley, my career ended after only three short years.  I was never given a valid reason and found myslef asking questions that I would never get the answers to:  Why do our school continue to employ some bad teachers, while some good ones are let go?  Why do principals defend teachers who bully and humiliate students?  How could  a teacher refuse to help students?  Shouldn't teachers accommodate all students? If these questions were answered truthfully you would change your view of our school system.  I decided to share my stories  in order to make people aware of what is happening in some classrooms.  This book was intended to act as a support system for parents as well as a learning tool for teachers.
