I've been influenced by too many writers to mention. My favorite people to read right now are Russell Banks, Denis Johnson, Alice Munro, Ian McEwan, George Sanders, Marilynne Robinson, Toni Morrison, Jonathan Franzen and Ross Macdonald. There will always be a special place in my heart for Raymond Carver, Thom Jones, John Cheever, Richard Yates, and Raymond Chandler.
