"When the majority disagrees, you're on the right track" - Thomas Tanner

Background Information

My name is Thomas O. Tanner -- a bit of a redneck (but a well-read redneck) -- now 46 years old; grew up in Atlanta, GA, and moved to Thailand, for good, in January of 2013. I was married for 13 years to a women who had become terribly manipulative and controlling. My wife and I didn't have have a whole lot of sex the last 10 years of our marriage. Probably because our comminication came to a grinding hault, for one reason or another. After seeking several marriage counselors, reading marriage and "love" books, and getting advice from our friends to save our marriage; nothing worked. The final "solution" to fixing our failing marriage, was to have an open marriage. Just weeks after our agreement to have sex with other partners, an aquaintance mentioned Thailand to me in passing. I couldn't believe the stories that he told me... and subsequently, couldn't get Thailand out of my mind. Two months later, my bags were packed and was headed half-way around the globe to a mysterious land that I knew nothing about. I first came to Thailand in 2011, but for only three weeks. Even though I had extreme culture-shock, I loved what I saw. Not to anyone's surprise, I meet a few pretty Thai companions (that approached me), but what really got my attention was how kind the Thai people were -- and the overall freedom that I found. Less regulations and control, and more just doing what you want to do-- as long as you're not harming anyone, almost anything goes. I came back home -- a bit depressed because I missed Thailand so much. My marriage had worsened after I returned. I wanted to go through with a divorce, but my wife had threatened to kill herself. And I think she meant it. I was trapped and didn't know what to do. None of my friends had any good advice, only, "you two need to go see a counselor (again)" Frustrated, eight months later, I was back in Thailand. This time for three months. My mission, at least one of them, was to have sex. I had sex only one time when I was in Thailand in 2011. Since I've only had sex once in about 400 days, I was "going for the kill" this time 'round. And that I did. And I kept a tidy journal about it, plus other stories of my experiences in Thailand. All in a first-person POV. With almost no details spared.... although I'm fairly tactful with my "goings on". Prostitution is openly condoned and accepted, so I shall say,  "I was a genie ready to burst out of its bottle" as soon as I arrived in Bangkok. My journal is something unique, I think: it's not just about sex and relationships in Thailand; I record my connections and clashes with other travelers. I write about the hotels and guesthouses that I discovered, my hospital visit ... I also document what it's like to 'live' in Thailand; not stay as a tourist. If you simply like a good travel tale, my book reads almost novel-like. If you like non-politically correct humor, as well as adventure and erotic stories, it has this as well. If you're thinking about spending some time or moving here, this is a must read. In the end, you'll learn why I left America, the so-called "land of the free", and have come to Thailand for good.
