Sometime in the ‘70s I began writing my thoughts down in a daily journal and some of the entries began to spark story ideas. Eventually I got serious about my writing and became a published author in 1985; I wrote what I called a “romantic thriller” that ran weekly for about a year and a half in a couple of San Diego area newspapers. The serial was called “Strands of the Web.” My photo was included in each week’s column and people actually recognized me. I was always surprised by that, but they would approach me in places like the grocery store or the post office to discuss the story. From that point forward, I was hooked on writing. In late 2001, having spent 30-plus years of our lives in California, Fred and I just up and moved to Virginia, much to the surprise and consternation of long-time friends. It was a logical move, though, because we're both closer to our families on this side of the country. I have a background in corporate marketing, but once settled in Williamsburg, I hung out my shingle as a freelance writer, editor and proofreader, efforts that still constitute my "day job." On a regular basis I write copy for websites, brochures, newspaper ads and much more. But on the side I write magazine articles and am putting in time on a couple of novel manuscripts. In addition, I've just published my first eBook! As a volunteer, I have worked in the Publications Department of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, serving as a proofreader on several of their wonderful book manuscripts. And I am currently a volunteer transcriptionist for the Swem Library Civil War Transcription Project at the College of William & Mary. I also consult with both newbie and established authors and serve as a proofreader/editor for their book manuscripts.

My (unpublished) novel "Tropical Turquoise" was a finalist in a competition hosted by the Space Coast Chapter of Romance Writers of America (2009).
