As a teenager, Lee Mitchell attended high school and college in greater Atlanta. He is now retired and lives in Buford, GA. After 3 years at GSU, a stint as a US Air Force computer technician and a consuming business career, his first writing assignment at community college was a major breakthrough and started an enduring thirst for knowledge about creative writing.
When his successful career in the computer industry as a technician and technical writer ended, his interest shifted away from climbing up the corporate ladder to his first love - to create a successful novel. He went to a local community college and studied creative writing at night receiving a certificate and then attended Georgia State University for three more years to hone his craft.
He continued working and studying on his own while reading Shakespeare, Stein, Hemingway, Faulkner, and other authors. A daunting task presented itself. How does an unpublished writer compete with the masters? He started reading. He became obsessed with the grit and wisdom of Ernest Hemingway to write and publish his classic novel, THE OLD MAN AND THE SEA. Discovering Stephen Crane’s realism in THE RED BADGE OF COURAGE piqued his interest in his own ancestor’s civil war service and he is still doing research for that upcoming novel. After discovering John Jakes’ Civil War Saga, NORTH AND SOUTH, he thought to himself, I can write like that. After reading THE BLACK ROSE, THE SILVER CHALICE and Thomas Wolfe’s LOOK HOMEWARD, ANGEL, he was ready.
LOVE’S DESTINY is his first completed novel and it is published by Amazon’s KDP. It is a romantic suspense novel about Janet and Ken and is the first book of the trilogy.
