My mother was a writer and an avid reader. I have always loved reading and knew that writing was my destiny. I started writing by journaling and seriously starting writing when I got my first computer in 1982. I wrote stories about my cats. As time went on, Like many of us, my journey took me many places that kept me from pursuing writng. After an injury that changed my life, I had time to write and write, I did. I took classes on writing and starting submitting. I had many rejection letters, or letter that gave me an answer and the answer was, "no." I kept writing about my life and got a job in a book store, so I could explore the word of writing some more. I got published in a national magazine and ended up with a column. It was a small publication and I didn't get paid, however. I loved having the deadlines and seeing my name in print especially when I went to a bookstore and saw the magazine with my name and story in it. It was a dream come true. I did get paid for a magazine article in a local parenting magazine= $25. So I knew I was a professional. MOre of life's twists and turns came my way and took a toll on my writing getting published.  I never gave up and in 2012 at the age of 62, I self published one of my children's books- it's called The Whole Glum Thing, Where Happiness Happens and it is about a girl super hero. I am having a good time sharing the book and doing author visits and programs about super heros.  I am restructuring my life so I can continue to write an publish. I have so much already written and I keep writing. I found this website while looking for a super hero poem for a presentation I am doing for 200 kids. I am so glad I did.
