After I became born again as a young man, Christian Fundamentalism gave me an emaciated gospel. Even though they taught me to have great hope and joy with regard to eternity, what they said about this life left me feeling pessimistic, fearful, and often depressed.
Over the years, I began to study more historic Christian traditions, as well as the Bible itself. Gradually, Christianity began to make more sense to me. I've come to realize that even now, Christ has all authority in heaven and on earth. He shall reign until the Father has put all enemies under His feet.
The Christian gospel is good news for all people, in all ways. If someone rejects the gospel, that doesn't mean it was never good news for them. Those who've accepted it should have no doubts. This isn't about a "prosperity gospel," but about Jesus being the Lord over this world.
The one book of the Bible that I've always found most fascinating is Genesis. As I studied this book in depth, I learned so much that I was inspired to do further research and writing over a seven year period. The end product is my book, Return to Genesis: What Ancient Poetry Reveals About Christ, the Church, and the Kingdom.
I continue to search the Scriptures for answers, not only to personal questions, but also to big questions about problems that affect our world.
