I was the eldest child of a blue collar family. I grew up in Silicon Valley, as it changed from orchards and dairies, to factories and office parks. Graduation from San Jose State University with a degree in Theater Arts followed. I spent four years with the City of San Jose, working as the Lighting Tech in their new 2,700 seat theater. Due to the failure of my marriage, I sought change, my knowledge of electronics got me a Field Engineer position with a local firm. After training, I moved to Seattle, from there I covered an area including the States of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Alaska. I developed analytical approach to trouble- shooting these sophisticaied systems. after a year, I was promoted to Tech Support, back in San Jose. Promotions came fast in a growing Company. In this post, I trained emplyees and clients in the Mainenance of our Systems. Problems in the field some times required me to travel over the US to solve difficult problems. I took many a 'redeye' flight to small cities in the Midwest, Southeast, or New England. Later, I was releived of my teaching duties. In stead, I was given responibility for bringing new Systems into Production. I started with a large Research System costing over $350,000.00. I installed the first few of these System, one of them in China. Over the next few years, I traveled to various parts of China, usually staying for three or four weeks at a time. I learned a lot about China, and the Chinese. I also visited Japan, Singapore, England, Germany, Italy, Swedon, and Holland. What followed were several mamagement positions with a variety of firms. I lived in northern Virginia, and southern California, folowing jobs. In the end, I have retired to a mountsin side in northern California. The area is filled with old gold mines, pot fields, and very indivialistic people. So much inspiration for a writer.
