Raymond Chandler, Alfred Hitchcock, Howard Pease and Charlotte Bronte have been my major influences. I was weaned on film noir and detective fiction of the hard-boiled type, horror stories, and early science fiction. As a native of Los Angeles, Hollywood and the local entertainment scene have colored my life and so also my writing. As an adolescent I began to devour Gothic romance novels and read books many of the popular writers of the 1960's, not to mention the old classics like 'Gaslight'. The thirst for knowledge and adventure through reading was instilled in me by my mother, then influenced by my sister. My sister, the late Wanda Coleman, was not only an avid reader but a writer who grew up to win an Emmy for her writing abilities and be published many times over.
