Jan Porter is an award-winning Canadian author who writes warm, character-driven literary fiction centered on strong women, second chances, and the quiet courage it takes to change course.
Raised in rural Ontario and shaped by the landscapes of the northern wilderness, her work is deeply rooted in small-town life, community, and the untold stories of everyday people.
After a career in Human Services, Jan turned her lifelong passion for storytelling into a full-time pursuit, bringing to life women who challenge expectations—often with humour, heart, and a touch of the unexpected.
She is the author of several award-winning novels, including Barefoot Alice, Maddy’s Wings and Soul Skin.
Jan lives and writes in Northern Ontario.
