Background
Information
Stacey has been an avid reader since the age of seven. This is also the age she wrote her first story, about the tragic loss of her family dog. It was then she realized the power of a pen because writing provided a release for negative emotion. She has lived in the mid-west, east coast and Central America! Her exposure to different cultures endeared her to different types of people and their way of life. She pursued learning to read, write and speak Spanish fluently. In her work as as school ibrarian she saw a great need for more writers of "color" and positive characters of various backgrounds to be highlighted. Stacey has decided to make a few of her works public in her non-fiction story: PRISCILLAS HOMECOMING ACROSS THE SEA about a girl kidnapped from her village in Sierra Leone and sold to a rice planter in South Carolina. Her next story BODY OF MUSIC is a fiction piece showing how Melody overcame her fear of singing publicly! Both stories show young people that despite horrible obstacles they can successfully face and overcome them!
