My hope is that as you read this story, you get a glimpse into the lives of these extraordinary men and that you see them individually as excellent and together as perfection. This book was written so that their influence and feat will not be forgotten. Writing this book is a way to honor my grandfather and his teammates who played a perfect season 70 years ago. In the process of this book, I was honored to meet the living members of this team. While working on this book, two of the teammates died and it is difficult to know they won’t see their story published, but their legacy will be preserved through this book and in the hearts of those they touched.
