I was born in Washington, D.C. in 1940 and eventually attended George Washington Medical School, graduating in 1966. My post graduate work was in Orthopaedic Surgery in New York City. I was a Lieutenant Commander in the Navy for a short period and then proceeded to establish a private practice in Virginia.
I retired as an Orthopaedic Surgeon 11 years ago after 30+ years of active practice. I specialized in shoulder problems and, in fact, have published over 40 papers on different shoulder problems, and I am internationally known for my contributions. However, I have never written anything non-medical until after retirement.

My second novel will be published July 25, 2018, THE MYSTERY OF FLIGHT 2222, a mystery/thriller/suspense with action and adventure. It is a story of 9 passengers who survive a plane crash, endure horrific weeks on a raft, but their rescue initiates a non-stop trip from which they can not escape.

In this work, I describe common orthopedic conditions and my view point of their causes and treatments for the lay public. Medical terms are explained and phonetically described in an easy to read manner so everyone will have some knowledge of the diseases the orthopedist sees in his office everyday. There are 271 pages, over 90 orthopaedic conditions discussed, 76 diagrams/photos, and chapters on bone healing, stress fractures, osteoporosis, fibromyalgia, and what to expect on the day of surgery. My first book, "Man's Unofficial Guide to the Use of His Garage", over 13 years ago, as a whim, because I really was impressed how my garage had developed into such a functional area where I could find everything and work comfortably. I thought that since I had made so many mistakes in garage arrangements over the last 30 years, I would impart some information about floor plans, work bench set-ups, electrical and lighting tips, and what tools a man "must have", "should have", and "wants to have", etc. Each night I added to it until I had a manuscript. It is written as if I was speaking directly to you, and since I really love humor and laughter, it is written in a humorous vein yet still is instructive and informative. With the insistence of my wife, Lynn, and friends, I eventually had it published.
My second book, "The Comb in the Urinal and Other Perplexities of Life".
Being retired has given me the time to smell the roses and slow down to a comfortable pace of life. I was totally captivated by a minuscule event one evening when I noticed a comb in a urinal, a very unusual place, and wondered how it possibly landed there. Subsequently, I put together 16 short stories about various inanimate objects that I have seen but to which I paid minimal if any attention.
