Geri is the mother of two daughters, one granddaughter, and one grandson. She survived breast cancer in 1985, and shares her many stories of overcoming obstacles, through her seminars, speaking engagements, workshops, books, and the media. She was a speaker on the panel at The Million Woman March, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1997. Geri has written a monthly column for "Key Awareness Publishing" newspaper since 1986, and also does free-lance writing. Geri worked as a television reporter, radio intern, office manager, home healthcare worker, and has owned three businesses. She is a self-starter with over fifteen years experience in administrative/office management, television, healthcare, and residential/commercial cleaning.

Geri plans, organizes and hosts her own annual conference every year, (The Annual "Geri Speak" Conference). This has been a huge success in both Virginia and South Carolina.
