I had a few creative writing assignments in high school, even writing an original short story for a final, on the spot.
I have met one of my favorite authors, Ray Bradbury, and got to speak with him 1 on 1 and he gave some writing advice. Other influences include Hunter S.Thompson, Thorne Smith, Ogden Nash, Stephen King, Thoreau, John Kennedy Toole, Abbie Hoffman, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Shel Silverstein, Robert Frost, Shakespeare, Aeschylus, Homer, Arthur C. Clark, Douglas Adams, George Orwell, and Maurice Sendak, Charles Dickens, and an eclectic list of others. Accomplishments
My on the spot short story from High School garnered an award by the Virginia High School League writing contest. I earned an award from NASA for my technical writing of acceptance test procedures for my work on “The Safe Return to Manned Spaceflight” program.
I studied creative writing at UC San Diego, when I could sandwich such classes between Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (code writing) and Media Production, film and video and studied three writing classes: Warren Writing (a write by class named after Justice Earl Warren, Ancient Chinese writing, Film and Fiction in the 20th Century, and writing for publication, as well as Mythological and Religious writing.
