I grew up reading The Chronicles of Narnia and later, when my children were young, I read them Magic Tree House stories. I love children's book that carry you away to another time and place. My book, The Heath Cousins and the Moonstone Cave, is based on my sons and their cousins when they were little. I watched them play outside and get swept away to other worlds. I loved this for them and I know that this type of exploration is important for every child.
