Information
I am a poet, teaching artist, writer, educator and science fiction enthusiast.
I am the co-founder of a nonprofit organization, Do The WRITE Thing of DC, through which I conduct poetry workshops to help youth connect to others. Poetry encourages students to view the complexities of the world in new ways and to develop empathy and understanding for other points of view. Poetry allows students to pour their feelings of hopelessness, anger, frustration, heartbreak, depression, isolation and fear onto paper. It helps students to be human. I have edited 10 books of original poems written by students.
As a writer, I have published a collection of my own poems, an anti-bullying illustrated book for children, two books about my Theory of Interplanetary Evolution. I have also written a children's story for adults.

Accomplishments
Do The Write Thing of DC, the organization co-founded by me, was honored as the best program for youth in the District of Columbia by then-Mayor Vincent Gray in 2012.
I received a Community Cornerstone Award in 2018 from DC City Councilwoman Anita Bonds for conducting poetry writing workshops and editing books of original poems written by inner city youth.
My organization was selected as one of the top nonprofits in the DC-MD-VA region by the Catalogue For Philanthropy for 2018-2019.
