I began writing poetry when I was about twelve years old, and never stopped, regardless of the circumstances of my life.  In fact, it seemed that the worse those circumstances became, the more I wrote.  As I grew older, I began to hone my skills, looking for ways to improve my style.  I've been greatly influenced by the writings of Poe and Yeats -- their dark muses and otherworldly images stayed with me, and helped to inspire the titles of my books.  We all have demons -- but they are within, and can only be faced down if we are courageous enough to look in the mirror and watch its reflection shimmer until we enter into another world.

My poems "Trust" and "Regret" were published in the January 2007 issue of Poesia magazine. Look for my "Dark Wanderer" in an upcoming issue of Aoife's Kiss. I also recently won the 2007 University of Arkansas' James T. Whitehead Sonnet or Sestina Prize, and "Kiss Me in the Shadows" won 13th place in a Poetry Soup international poetry contest.
