Being Mama's caregiver for three years compelled me to write my feelings of frustration, saddness, disbelief at just what Alzheimer's can do to its' victim. I found relief that all is well now since Mama gave up her fight of this terrible disease February 14, 2000. Heaven's newest angel still is inspiring me even though she's gone, I look for signs of her everyday, some sort of sign as she lets me know all is well and she is happy and has control of her life now. My signs from Mama are in poetry form; the words I write give me the relief as I think of her so often. She’s given me this way of communication with her and I’ll except that if this is my way of knowing she is okay. My words are sad, silly and comforting to others who read my poems especially my family. 

Have been published in the local newspapers, The Daily Times News and Greensboro Record. Also, Sparrowgrass Publishing Company, in an anthology, and have had two stories published in the “Hometown Memories”, a book about Alamance County folks and their lifetimes in the fifties. Having won several awards for “Outstanding Writer” for my poetry and writings in 1998 it makes me feel good to know someone may benefit from my writings and feelings.
I have made several web pages on the Internet with my poetry and made a memorial page in memory of my mom, granddaughter and Tiffany Long, a local girl that was brutally murdered at the young age of ten years old. God bless them and may they now ‘rest in peace’.
