I was born just a few short miles from the Atlantic Ocean on the south shore of Long Island. The beach and the east coast seasoned my mind and creativity, but the cold weather and short summer months left me longing for more than sitting atop a lifeguard stand in the winter months just making music with my friends. The south was calling... I traveled to South Carolina and found a home in Charleston in the late ‘90’s. A career in the medical field and the Palmetto Trees, Live Oaks and Spanish Moss draping the South Carolina Low Country seemed as natural as the cliffs and rocks of the Long Island Sound. Everywhere I looked the Low Country filled flooded my senses with history and the ocean. Sitting on the sands of beaches like Folly, Edisto, Sullivan’s Island and Isle of Palms, Low Country stories flowed from locals to my ears and quickly to my pen. I have written 2 books that happen to be completely different in every way, shape and form. Those who know me are probably not surprised by this at all considering how diverse my interests are. Here’s a good example for you…..I am a NASCAR loving, NY native who is addicted to the beaches of South Carolina, the crooning of Tony Bennett, the sound of a tricked out Harley, my little dog Mook, the tiny Caribbean Island of Jost Van Dyke, Scooby Doo Cartoons and the bad-ass attitude of Lynyrd Skynyrd…..And Go Yankees!!! Point being….when you read one of my stories, you never know exactly what you will get! RC Shivers currently makes a home in the coastal Low Country of South Carolina with his wife Vicki their son Alex and little pound puppy Mook.
