Growing up in the Sydney western suburbs doesnt always appear as the likely place for a writer- Debbie has written poetry & rhyme since her first award back in in the late 60's and today has self- published a collection of books which include apoetry & fictional short stories-. The inclusion of short stories has sparked new adventures and challenges while the purpose behind each book contains a very special message- That of raising awareness to Ovarian cancer, the disease which claimed the life of her mother in the same year Sydney hosted the Olympics. The year 2000 saw many changes in her life, losing her mother the beginning....through her 'army of words', Debbie has continued to find a way of surviving each hurdle that life has thrown her way. Debbie hopes others will pick up the pieces of their own broken lives and find the tools needed to fight onwards- As mum always said.."There's no such thing as can't!"
