Background Information

As a daughter of Spanish immigrants, and later as an immigrant myself, I've been exposed to a wealth of life experiences and personal interactions. Writing has been always my favorite tool to explore and communicate all that complexity. Poetry, my emotional voice. My training as a scientist, an obvious consequence of my interest for observation and natural curiosity, gave me access to the English language and brought me to the United States, where I live since 1992. I started to practice mindful meditation a few years after arriving in Boston, and the investigation of the mind has since become a central subject for me. Some of my poems have been published in Ibbetson Street Magazine, Insight, Spare Change Newspaper, Public Spaces, and in the anthology Do Not Give Me Things Unbroken. My first collection of poems, Footholds and Handrails, saw the light in May 2014. I would have not started writing poetry without the example of voices like those of Mario Benedetti, Miguel Hernandez, Pablo Neruda, and of course Joan Manuel Serrat. Later in life I discover the work of many English-speaking poets that I love, including Stephen Dunn, Billy Collins and Mary Oliver.
