D.A. Chadwick has written fourteen books and several screenplays. She has worked as a freelance translator of French, German and Dutch to English for twenty-six years and is a member of the American Translator's Association and the Kansas Bar Association. When not translating Chadwick enjoys ghost hunting, fishing, building model ships and playing 12 string guitar. History and archaeology are passions as well as doing research. Truth seeking led to a working knowledge of Biblical Hebrew and Latin. When researching my family history, I discovered that one of my ancestors was knowledgeable about a murder involving two Kansas cattle ranchers in 1890 and I published the story in 2000 as 'Blatherskites: The Frazer/Gibson Murders'", a historical fiction novel. The book, "Deer Creek: The Frazer/Gibson Murders" is nonfiction based on information not available to me in 2000. The Singing Nun Story: "The Life and Death of Soeur Sourire" is the only English language biography of Jeannine Deckers or Sister Smile, who topped the record charts in 1964 with her hit song, "Dominque". I was inspired to write an English version of her story after reading the biography by Florence Delaporte in French. The reality was so far from the fantasy of the movie with Debbie Reynolds that I wanted to share it with American readers. "The Chimera Project" is a thriller based on the stories my father used to tell us thirty years before the "shadow government" was admitted to by President George Bush and the "Commander X" books were published in the 90s. Dad was US Army intelligence and assigned to the Pentagon. He was passed away now and there is no reason to keep this information secret any longer. We had our mail censored, phones tapped and agents following us taking photographs. I collected 300 Feldpost letters from German soldiers on the Russian front for two nonfiction books. Along with the letters from soldiers, I also have letters from concentration camps, dog tags, soldier books and many other documents from Nazi Germany. Research is my favorite past time. The collection is translated in the books, Paper Memories: Distant Voice of the Third Reich Vol I and II". "Hinterkaifeck: Terror in the German Countryside", is about the murders of five farm family members and their maid near the German town of Grobern in 1922. The crime is still unsolved. The latest book based on true events in 1906 Topeka, Kansas. "The House on Paulen Road." An interest in the American Civil War inspired, "The Grass Widow: A Civil War Tale". "The Good Nazi" is based on a play I wrote in high school that my late mother wanted to see written as a novel.
