Lori R. Lopez wears many hats as an award-winning author and poet of Horror, Speculative and Literary Fiction, Fantasy and more. She is also an artist, musician, songwriter, actress, filmmaker, tree-hugger, vegan, and animal-lover. Lori roamed graveyards as a kid and conducted funerals for dead birds, squirrels, insects and spiders. Her poems "Crop Circles" and "Nocturnal Embers" were nominated for the Rhysling Award in 2020.

"My writing tends to be humorous, horrific (oh, that sounds bad, I mean horror-filled, is that better?), thought-provoking, poetic, and I like to use big words. I like to make up words, big or small (usually big). I like words, especially words that rhyme. I also like Lewis Carroll, Doctor Seuss, Maurice Sendak, Mother Goose, The Brothers Grimm, THE WIZARD OF OZ, FRANKENSTEIN, Alfred Hitchcock, Stephen King and Dean Koontz, Tim Burton, John Carpenter's HALLOWEEN, THE X-FILES, STRANGER THINGS, PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN, INDIANA JONES, Lucy and Ethel, Doris Day movies, Cher, Nancy Sinatra's "Boots", The Beatles, Bob Dylan, folk music, Sara Bareilles, Taylor Swift, Adele, Demi Lovato, Christina Perri and more . . . Dolly Parton and Whitney Houston singing "I Will Always Love You", Stevie Nicks's "Landslide", and other songs that make me cry. Steve Irwin, Greenpeace, The Sea Shepherds, dairy cows, and so on. My first favorite book was "Where The Wild Things Are". That says a lot, it really does. I believe in making the world better instead of worse!"
Favorite Books
I love books by Lewis Carroll, Mary Shelley, Edgar Allan Poe, Dean Koontz, Stephen King, Mark Twain, Victor Hugo, Franz Kafka, Bram Stoker, William Shakespeare, and many more. Some of my favorite early stories were WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE by Maurice Sendak, THE CAT IN THE HAT by Doctor Seuss, and Washington Irving's LEGEND OF SLEEPY HOLLOW, not to mention Mother Goose, Aesop, and The Brothers Grimm. I think that pretty much says it all, I really do.
Personal Interests
I'm always writing -- books, stories, poems, songs, columns and articles, inane gibberish and utter nonsense . . . I can't stop myself! I can't control it! I have to write!!! Reading too. Movies and T.V. Music. Drama. Nature. Animals. Being peculiar. Drooling. Collecting acorns (oh wait, that's squirrels). Well, I like to do plenty of things. Especially writing!
