Born and raised in the heart of the Midwest, Nancy’s life ran smooth for 29 years. She loved her profession as a nurse, was married to the love of her life and had a healthy, happy son. She had all she ever wanted…except intimacy with God. That was something she couldn’t seem to achieve; a door she couldn’t manage to open. In 1988, the key to this door was placed at a threshold in Nancy’s life. Her daughter, born Autistic, deaf and failure to thrive, was the means He would use to bridge the gap of true intimacy with Him. “Why won’t you heal her!” she desperately cried out to Him one day. “Because I can do more through not healing her than if I do” was His loving response. Since that day, her life has never been the same. Called to leave nursing, Nancy began to home school her daughter Danielle. In the effort to pull her daughter out of Autism, she soon realized she in fact was the one who had been called home to be schooled by no one other than God Himself. Nancy Douglas speaks, teaches, and writes through the Olive Leaf Ministries where her testimony of discovering God in the midst of great pain and tragedy touches every heart. Nancy and her husband Jimmy live in Kansas City, Missouri and have two children, Drew and Danielle.
