Background
Information
As a child in Maryland, I was often home with asthma, and my imagination was fed by books. I soon developed a love of writing, which became stronger with the years. As a young adult, I devoured science fiction and international mainstream fiction. In 1997, I became a Buddhist. To further my studies, I traveled to Tibet several times and in 2005, spent a year in India with Tibetan refugees.
Many of my short stories have been published in anthologies and contests. I also have two published fantasy novels.
My memoir IN MY BONES was recently published. I worked on it for over 25 years before finally setting it free.
My latest publication is ART REFUGEE, a travel journal of my eleven months in India, doing art therapy with Tibetan refugees and working on a film.
Accomplishments
IN MY BONES is my memoir chronicling the most dramatic points of my life from my early 20s to my 50s - from being the single parent of a biracial child in a divided city, to harrowing near death experiences with drugs and an IUD, to travels in Nepal and Tibet. This is a mystical path through ordinary life to answer deep questions of identity and purpose as an artist. Readers who enjoyed Postcards from the Edge and Eat, Pray, Love might be drawn to my story.
THE NIGHTWING'S QUEST is a fantasy science fiction tale in the dark-elven underground, and a struggle between the matriarchal rulers and their subjugated males. When the heir to the throne of Nightwing is assassinated, the next in line, the beautiful Tiala, is forced to go to the dangerous surface world to recruit champions. What she finds changes her forever.

My novel THE SILVER REINDEER is a young adult fantasy. In the snowbound country of Montrovik, Magda Ranhubell left home to become a priestess rather than marry her rich neighbor or rule her father's estate. But her life at the abbey is changed when Magda discovers she has a telepathic bond with an ancient artifact. The Chalice of the Silver Reindeer wants to be removed from the altar and taken to the top of the Kloedrift mountains.
Somehow Magda must survive the perils of blizzards, wolves and bounty men to reach the summit. Though she is joined by a fellow outlaw, a mage who is also on a quest, she isn't sure if he will be friend or foe. Soon it is clear that they both have a much more dangerous enemy who will do anything to get his hands on the chalice and use its powers for evil.
AMPHIBIOUS DREAMERS is a collection of my short stories published in 1999. Various short stories and poems have also appeared in print anthologies and online markets.
