Swayed by her love of Nancy Drew mysteries, Cheryl Rogers decided as a child to become a writer. She began writing mystery stories, eventually studied journalism and became a newspaper reporter. But it wasn't until she had worked many years as a newspaper reporter, and surrendered her life to God during a devastating illness, that she finally learned what she was made to write ABOUT. "It is my desire to share my own experiences in hopes I can help spare others from a life of emptiness and fear," says Cheryl. "Not only did God heal me from a supposedly 'incurable' disease, but he has given me strength, defeated my enemies, and taught me so many things." Cheryl is a stay-at-home mom and a writer, songwriter and digital artist specializing in Scripture-related content. She writes short stories and Bible columns full of biblical wisdom in nugget-size portions. She began writing songs after the tragic Sept. 11 World Trade Center attacks. It came as a surprise because Cheryl's father encouraged her and her sister to write music when they were children. "I never could. All I could do was write lyrics," she recalls. "All that changed on the second anniversary of my father's death. I was reading Psalm 18 on Dec. 18 when the first notes came drifting into my mind. It wasn't something I could ignore." Since then, with help from a church music minister who runs a recording studio, Cheryl has recorded three Scripture song CDs: Victory!, Arise, Shine and Bring my Soul out of Prison. The songs helped her to learn Scripture, but she believes the songs are powerful tools not only to memorize Scripture but to pray and declare God's promises over our lives. "They are useful to declare divine health, success, and freedom of fear, as well as instruct. After all, the lyrics are the word of God." Cheryl Rogers graduated cum laude with a B.A. in journalism and sociology. She worked for 12 years as a newspaper reporter and copy editor, most recently for the Tampa Tribune and Pensacola News Journal.
