I grew up in Oregon, the third of eleven children. I didn't have a lot of material things, but there was plenty of love. My mother required us to read every day. I loved reading about children going on magical adventures. After reading all of Edward Eager's books, I began reading Nancy Drew. I am the mother of four children. When I became a mother, I never wanted anyone else to raise my children, so I did everything I could to be a stay at home mom. I took in ironing, sewing and babysat for all the neighborhood children, while their parents worked. Mine was the home with cartoons and the smell of homemade cookies, which the children helped me bake. We also had piles of books, and a table lined up with a variety of neighborhood children, doing homework. I am now the grandmother of six. This homework ritual has continued with my grandchildren. When parents are busy, grandma steps in to help. I have been through Utah History 4 times, and I didn't grow up in Utah. I enjoy hearing my granddaughter Autumn learning her spelling words or conquering a new reading level. Reading and story telling led me to making up my own stories. I told the story of Jack and The Beanstalk in every imaginable way. One day, I began making up stories with my grandchildren as characters. This is how the series "Through the Rug" began.

I have been a volunteer for the Literacy Action Center, in Salt Lake City, and my husband and I volunteered in 2007 at the Northwest Kiwanis Camp for handicapped children. I have been president of the Oquirrh Writers, as well as secretary, and contest chairman.
I have won awards for my writing from both the Oquirrh Writers and The League of Utah Writers. I have taught marketing workshops for both the Oquirrh group and the League of Utah Writers Roundup.
I have held fundraisers for "Through the Rug" to support Literacy, and the Kiwanis Camp. I held a fundraiser for "Through the Rug 2: Follow that Dog," in 2007, donating 10 wheelchairs to the Wheelchair Foundation.
