Why do we write? I suppose we do it in order that our voices be heard. I've been writing stories since I was kid (the first that I can remember concerned a young girl who was taken by a tornado to a strange land, and no, I didn't give L. Frank Baum credit! But geez, I was only five years old!).

Michael Karol is an award-winning New York-based entertainment journalist and author. Michael has won many editorial and graphics awards, including a 2003 Eddie Award for Soap Opera Weekly, presented by Folio: magazine: Silver Winner for Outstanding Editorial Work, Consumer Entertainment; Cahners Publishing's Editorial Medal of Excellence in 1996 for his column "How'd They Print That?"; a 1992 Certificate of Merit from New York's Community Action Network (CAN) for his story about drugs in the workplace, "The Lows of Being High"; the Neographics Silver Award in 1981 and 1984; the Print magazine Regional Design Award in 1985 and 1988; the Art Direction magazine award in 1987 and its Certificate of Distinction in 1992; and the Art Director's Club 65th Annual Exhibition Merit Award in 1986. In addition, he has been a finalist in the prestigious NEAL writing competition in 1993 for "The Lows of Being High," and in 1996 for "How'd They Print That?"
