I never planned on being a writer. In school, composition was one of my weakest subjects. All the while I was a prolific reader and strangely, somewhere in the depths of my soul, I knew that one day I'd write a book.      That day didn't come until my oldest daughter became extremely bored in school. To answer her plea for challenge and more interesting things to learn, I created the first of three open-ended story books designed specifically to teach higher level thinking skills. Those three books, If I Were a Road, If I Were A Table and The Great Bridge Lowering have been used in classrooms for over thirty-years and are still being sold today. Interestingly enough, those story/activity books that are designed for gifted learners have also been used with great success with Title One readers-students who have difficulty learning to read.    I've gone on to write in several different genres including education (books for teachers and parents of gifted children), how to, poetry, readers theatre, journal, newspaper and biography as well as children's. In addition I've written and produced educational videos and have two screenplays that have been optioned for movies. My work in progress is an adult novel.    People have always showed up in my life to support and encourage me, often believing in me when I did not believe in myself. From the extraordinary artist who gave me my first "light bulb moment" when she said, "you should be writing books," to the countless others to numerous to name and the many more still to come, I am and will always be eternally grateful.
