This latest writing was inspired by a U. S. History instructor, Prof. Len Messina.  It started out as  extra credit for a  US History II class - I took pictures of 16 headstones and recorded their engravings - prepared a Seriation Report - and then wrote about some of the families who are in this old cemetery - 1766 to 1856. It was truly an interesting experience -  delving into old records and recreating how they lived and picturing what life must have been like in the town where I was raised.  I became obsessed with writing about the families in this cemetery - just delving into resources of the public libraries made me want to know more and more about these people.  I feel I am part of the history of Plainville - growing up there in the 1930's  - I knew some of the homes and places I was about to write about.  And I now look at these homes and places in a different light.   And this past semester a class in digital photography turned me toward photographs of the clocks on the Streets of Bristol.  Bristol is know as the clock town and is home to the American Clock and Watch Museum on Maple Street in Bristol.  The research proved interesting to say the least and worth the effort in just learning about what used to be....and of course the newest addition just this past year at the Elks Club.  A never ending quest for more clocks led me finally to the sundial located in the garden at the American Clock and Watch Museum on Maple Street in Bristol.....and I finally used this as my cover.  You can review 15 pages of the book and/or purchase it at   www.blurb.com. I have just completed THE GREAT STONE FACE, BOY ROCK, at Ledge Road, Plainville, CT...a 38 page book with pictures of the Rock in the 1930s,1940s, 1960s, and 2008.  This is a book of memories - mine and of several other people who remember the hikes, picnics and other stories of the ROCK and also a touch of history with the note of the oldest house on Ledge Road with a street map of PLAINVILLE from 1831.
