My third grade teacher introduced me to the magic of books, using them as a reward for getting our work done in class. When we finished, we could select a book to read just for fun. I started my love-affair with stories then and devoured books endlessly. The writers I most admire include Hemmingway, Steinbeck, Zane Grey, C.S. Lewis, Laura Castoro, and several popular mystery writers.

My greatest achievement in life was raising five wonderful children who all came out basically okay.
In my writing career, I have won numerous awards for fiction. It started with the Detroit News Scholastic Writing Award when I was twelve. Most recently, I was a semi-finalist in the Chesterfield Screenplay competition and the New Century Writer contest.

I recently moved to a wonderful small town in the Piney Woods of East Texas, and write for an online community magazine: Winnsborotoday.com. It has been a neat way to get to know the folks here and keep the journalism skills sharp. At least, I hope readers find them sharp.
