I went to college in the fifties and studied Theatre. After graduation in 1960 I moved away from theatre and became interested in Political Science and went to Bogota, Colombia to teach English. Back in the US I ran an art gallery then got my teaching certification and started career in education, all the time thinking about writing. But the adventures of travel and love in the sixties was a great distraction. For a while I did rock photography for bands and one album cover. Slowly I found myself drawn back into theatre. In 1972 I went to Southern Methodist University and got a Master of Fine Arts in theatre direction. After studying in England I founded a Professional Theatre in Dallas named The New Arts Theatre Company. Success, recognition, awards, burn out ten years later and  family to support I went back to teaching and started writing plays, then my novel last year. Of course the novel involves a famiy of artists loosely based on my own family fo artists. It takes place in Dallas in 1938 and features the first US production of Lorca's Blood Wedding. The young director in the story devises a revolutionary method of directing for this complicated play and he falls in love with a French girl visiting Dallas. Every moment of his love experiences are described in intimate detail. The story travels to Northern New Mexico for a tragic climax.I've just finished an erotic romance named ZipZap. A manage a trois story, a man, a woman, and a trans-sexual. It has a happy ending. I've studied writing all of my life being an avid reader of everything. The writers who influenced me the most are the usual suspects: Hemingway, Somerset Maugham, John D. MacDonald, Lawrence Durrell, and the great mystery and thriller writers. Roman mysteries are some of my favorites-Steven Saylor, John Maddox Roberts, and Lindsey Davis. James Lee Burke still writes some of the best with the best detective. I'm deeply sorry Steig Larsson died before his success with Salander novels. I believe word of Charlaine Harris's books, and I dream of Sookie. I just discovered J.A. Jance-terrific stuff. Marsden's Elizabethan theatre mysteries are the best of the genre, the modern best is Jane Detzinger. Rowlands Japanese Samaurai novels match the greats. My next projects are: The Mad Woman of Bogota, young americans in the capital of colombia during the early sixties; Roman Love, an erotic tale of a young artist following Julius Caesar into Gaul.
