Exposure to the intensely mystical and passionate musical world of the Russian composers Alexander Scriabin and Sergei Rachmaninoff has tipped my own literary style towards classically oriented form and structure. And, as reflected by my choice of musical repertoire, I feel that dramatic intensity and thorough plot denouement are essential criteria that an author should always attempt to incorporate in their writing. Which authors have influenced my own writing over the years? Predictably, Dostoyevsky, Gorky, Kazantzakis, and especially, Tolstoy's autobiography. My intensive studies in the realm of both visual art and my international career as a performing artist have enabled me to appreciate the qualities of clarity, discipline, a sense of color harmony and balance, rhythmic density and perfection of technique. In any artistic medium, these translate into the requisite tools of one's craft. As a Realist Romanticist in my approach to both art and music, my ultimate literary vision is the same: to illuminate a timeless situation with immediacy and beauty.
