My second book is about a boy who has Asperger's Syndrome and is bullied to the point to where he shoots up his school. I have divided the excerpts from it into three parts: Before, during and after the shooting.
Soldier's Gap is a non-traditional mystery with literary elements. The high school principal is brutally murdered, but Deputy Sheriff Dave Jenkins's search for meaning and love is a much more significant theme.

Information
My first career was working with children and families and I have been a single mother for twelve years. Writing is my second career though I often write about children and families. I write prose, poetry and children's picture books, in addition to my newspaper column and blog. While my poetry has been featured in several anthologies, Broken Buckets is my first novel. Currently I am completing a historical novel set in colonial America. I am co-founder of a non-profit foundation called the Prickly Pear Poetry Project, which is a therapeutic writing workshop for those affected by cancer. I work for the NH Humanities Council as a literacy instructor with new, refugee, and imprisoned adults, and as a teacher. I have been influenced by a great many writers, chief among them Zora Neale Hurston and Margaret Atwood.
