Caryn is a multi-award winning author, poet, magazine/newspaper article writer. She has been in the Jacksonville, Florida community for many years as a local author and promoter of other authors and artists. She was the President/CEO of POW! (Promoting Outstanding Writers!), and also CDS Publicity for many years. She was also the president of POW! Toastmasters, and past president of the Florida Writers Association, a state organization.
Her writing has been featured and recognized nationally and internationally as well. She has been honored to be in Poetry Now Magazine from England in two separate issues. She has also been published in Viva! Magazine from Italy. She has met Oprah Winfrey, Jack Canfield, Lila Perl, R.L. Stine, Meredith Baxter-Birney, and many other celebrities. She was the News Editor for The Victim's Advocate here in Jacksonville. She has also been published in Reader's Digest, McCall's, Redbook, Florida Life, Jacksonville Magazine, Folio, Buzz Magazine, Clay Today, Beaches Leader, St. Augustine Recorder and many others. She is a previous winner in the Florida Times Union Christmas Short Story Contest for her story, "Katie's Christmas".
Her favorite of all in promotions was having her own radio show, "The POW! Show", every Saturday morning on WGJR 1320 and featuring area artists, writers and musicians. She also has several YouTube videos with interviews of authors including one of her favorites and most watched with Goosebumps author, R.L. Stine.
Florida authors recognized her as one of the best and included her short story, "A Fairy Christmas", in a book entitled, "A Florida Christmas", which included other famous Florida authors such as Ernest Hemingway, Jimmy Buffett, Harriett Beecher-Stowe and more.
She has mentored many authors both locally and nationally. She has lead a free writer's critique class for over 13 years. Her public relations company, POW!, at one point employed over 17 people, locally and statewide, and had over 250 clients nationally. She facilitated several writers conferences for POW! single handedly and even had a writers contest through POW! sponsored also with the help of Florida Community College of Jacksonville.
Caryn is now back to working on her writing projects and hoping to rerelease her previous book, "Living Crazy Like Fly", and finish others she has put on the back burner. She is a contributor to "Buzz Magazine". She is also presently a participating editor/book reviewer for the Association of Independent Authors on their Quality Review Board. She is still doing booksigning appearances for her books as well as her charity work to help support literacy. She has been the Creator/Director of the award-winning, "Open Mic-Jacksonville" Vol I and Vol II, which helps to benefit literacy. She resides in Jacksonville, Florida with her husband Tom and her furry "kids". She is also a proud Nana/Mimi of nine grandchildren.
Caryn still coaches in public relations and in helping authors/artists to promote themselves and the venues available to them. She coaches with public speaking, presentations and gives recommendations. She offers help with publishing information, website and promotions. She also participates in several area events, charity events, and speaks about her books, publicity help and more at book groups, conventions, clubs, conferences, media, public and private events.
She is a member of many local and national organizations. She is a member of the Women Writers of America, Toastmasters International, Pen Women, Who's Who of Cambridge, Authors Den, International Poetry Society, Southeast Writers Association, Jacksonville Poet's Society, Sigma Phi Epislom, Good Government Florida, National Association of Notarys, National Organization of Women Writers, Poet's and Authors of America, Council of Catholic Women and more.
